Every decision we make in life is rooted in some basic beliefs about the nature of life.  We have learned these beliefs from our families, our culture and our own experiences.  If these beliefs are true, then the decisions we make will be based in reality and the outcomes of our decisions will be mostly positive outcomes.  If, however, we have believed something that is false, it will lead us to make repeated bad decisions resulting in ever worse outcomes.  Jesus said, “The truth will set you free.”

This path to freedom requires an intense examination of our closely held beliefs and the willingness to admit when what we believe is exposed as a lie.  The alternative is to continue to live in the lie and continue to make decisions that destroy our lives.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
