  1. Morality is what is ultimately best for everyone
    1. The Golden Rule presents a universal test for morality – Matthew 7:12
    2. The Great Commandment also provides a standard of love based on our love for ourselves – Luke 10:27
      1. We are to love God with all our being
      2. We are to love others as we love ourselves
  2. Morality is what protects us from the effects of evil
    1. We are protected by keeping God’s commands – Psalm 25:20-21
      1. We often mistakenly think that doing wrong will protect us from consequences, but the best choice is always the choice to do right.
    2. Fear of being caught or being punished is a sign of wrong choices – Romans 13:1-3
  3. Morality is what provides us with benefits that can only be found in moral choices.
    1. The benefits of moral choices is demonstrated in the command for children to obey their parents – Ephesians 6:1-3
    2. God promises that every command He gives us is for our benefit and will result in blessing – Deuteronomy 6:1-3
    3. Jesus stated that He came to give us a full life – John 10:10
      1. Many mistakenly believe that living a moral life and doing the right thing will result in missing out on things in life.
  4. Morality is that which mirrors the character of God
    1. God demonstrates in His character, every aspect of morality: love, truth, faithfulness, righteousness, etc.
    2. We are to become more like Christ as we grow in our relationship to God – Luke 6:40
