Job 20:5 The good times of the wicked are short-lived; godless joy is only momentary.
- The futility of seeking happiness
- It is natural for us to seek that which is most important to us
- Solomon discovered the futility of making happiness or pleasure our goal in life – Ecclesiastes 2:1-3, 10-11
- Happiness is the bi-product of a Godly life – Psalm 37:3-4
- Two lives in contrast:
- The blessed man – Psalm 1:1-3
- His walk is Godly
- His delight is in God’s Word
- He prospers
- The wicked man – Psalm 1:4-6
- He has no lasting impact
- God is not on his side
- He will perish
- The blessed man – Psalm 1:1-3
- The life of joy – John 15:1-11
- The purpose of these instructions was to bring complete joy – vs. 11
- Joy begins with a growing relationship with God, illustrated by the vine and the branches – vs. 1-4
- The person who remains in Christ will be fruitful – vs. 5
- The person who remains in Christ will experience God’s provision – vs. 7
- The person who remains in Christ will experience God’s love – vs. 8-10
- The final result is maximum joy
